Hey Everyone! I’m Nicholas Baker a 2nd year full time student studying for a BSc in Psychology. I joined the Students’ Union to help build a community within Birkbeck as well as the wider academic community. I believe that community is a key factor in delivering an enjoyable and educational university experience. However, as Birkbeck is so unique, many students struggle to manage their university lives with other responsibilities. Therefore my manifesto proposes utilising social media and student reps to improve communication between the students and the union, so we can deliver community activities tailored to you. Due to the responsibilities of Birkbeck students: my manifesto also promises a push for extending library opening hours, making the library more accessible for all students.

Outside of the Union I’m interested in psychology and film. So will often be spotted hanging around the cinema and psychology society events.

One of my priorities over the last year has been lobbying the University to get a 24-hour Library! Here's a little update on that...

Hello! I’m Sara Hurley, I’m a mature student in my final year studying a BSc in Psychology. Last year, my interests in the environment and wellbeing led me to take on volunteer positions with the Student Council as the Environment and Ethics Officer and Wellbeing Officer for the Women’s Committee. Working with The George Bar and Terrace 5 to reduce our plastic and waste, promoting Keep Cups and incentives for reusable containers. This year I look forward to promoting initiatives that will educate students and improve Birkbeck’s sustainability objectives.

Mental wellbeing and community building for Birkbeck students and staff is another one of my manifesto promises. This coming year we are creating more opportunities to meet your fellow students, make friends and build support networks that aim to bring you through your time here at Birkbeck. I’ll be reaching our for your ideas and support through this year so come say hi- we can share a tea and a chat!

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Otherwise, you’ll find us on the 4th floor beside the George Bar (or maybe in the bar depending on the time).
