About Us
Welcome to the Politics & Policy Forum!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Politics & Policy Forum at Birkbeck for the 2026/27 academic year — a brand-new student space dedicated to thoughtful engagement with politics, public policy, and the ideas that shape our world.
This year, we are building something fresh, purposeful, and student-driven. We’re planning a dynamic programme of regular meet-ups, informal mixers, and curated events designed to bring you together with fellow students to explore issues, challenge assumptions, and broaden your understanding in an open, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
As a member, you’ll be part of an exciting community from the ground up. You’ll receive early updates about upcoming events, opportunities to get involved in shaping our activities, and invitations to contribute your voice and vision to the direction of the Forum — whether that’s through discussion, collaboration, or leadership.
To support our activities, we will charge a modest membership fee, heavily subsidised through Students’ Union funding. This reflects our shared commitment to making extra-curricular life at Birkbeck as accessible as possible. We also warmly welcome students from other University of London institutions, Birkbeck alumni, staff members, and external guests — with a slightly larger contribution asked of non-SU members to ensure fairness, transparency, and sustainable support for Birkbeck students.
Because we are NEW to Birkbeck this year, we’re currently taking expressions of interest for both:
Membership — join the Forum and be part of its first cohort
Forum Roles — including Committee positions and working groups helping to shape events and strategy
Whether you’re deeply engaged in politics and policy, curious to learn more, or simply eager to meet like-minded peers, we’d love to hear from you.
We can’t wait to meet you and start the year together with purpose, energy, and fresh ideas!
