Food and Drinks

With Soho, Covent Garden, and King’s Cross on our doorstep, you can take full advantage of London’s shops, restaurants and bars. However, University Student Bars and food outlets tend to be cheaper than other non-student bars in London, so they are always a good location when you're looking to save some money. They're also great spots to meet other students and get to know your fellow Birkbeckians, as well as students from surrounding institutions such as UCL and SOAS.

It's always a good idea to carry your Birkbeck ID card with you at all times as a lot of bars in the UK will request it - we also recommend bringing your Totum card, if you've got one, to make the most out of student discounts!

Malet Street Building

The George Bar - open Monday to Friday from 3.30pm until 11pm (term time only).
Terrace 5: Restaurant - open Monday to Friday from 11:00am until 6:30 pm (term time).
- Lunch service runs 12:00-14:00 and dinner services 16:00-18:00.
- The restaurant and the terrace space also offer a great social and study space between services with great coffee, tea, cake, and other grab and go offers.
- Out of term time the restaurant is open between 11:00 am to 2:30 pm and has a lunch service between 12:00-14:00.
Perch Café: Ground Floor Malet Street.
