What is a Students' Union?

Students’ Unions are separate to universities and are led by students for students. They exist to represent your needs and interests whilst you are studying. They provide lots of opportunities, activities and events to improve your time at your university.

How do I become a member of the Students' Union?

You are automatically a member of the Students' Union as soon as you enroll at Birkbeck - which means, there is nothing for you to do and you can get involved straight away!

Is the Welcome Fortnight only for first year students?

No! Any Birkbeck student can attend our Welcome events.

How do I book tickets to your events?

We are working with Native for our events platform!

How do I join a Club or Society?

To join a Club or Society is quite simple! Create an account or sign in to the Birkbeck Students’ Union and then

you will be able to join any group by clicking on the JOIN THIS GROUP button on the chosen Club/ Society page.

After clicking on the membership option, add it to the cart and check out smiley

Can I join more than one Club or Society?

Yes, you can join as many Clubs and Societies as you like smiley

How do I get a Totum (student discount) card?

Visit totum.com to sign up and order your card.
