About Us
This is a group designed to be student-led, allowing students the chance to use the technology offered by the Birkbeck Virtual Reality and Gaming Society, as well as the guidance of a fantastic staff team. The central theme is the use of the VR equipment and the Immersive Learning Centre. There is also scope for several trips to a variety of VR-themed events and exhibitions in London.
Using the Immersive Learning Centre as a central theme for the society, students can enjoy the fun and social aspect of VR games and equipment. There is also scope for more traditional board games and video games, contrasting with the high-tech VR element. Members will have the opportunity to learn more about a variety of subjects, from space to nature and geography, through immersive tours of cities and landscapes, to gain more confidence via virtual interviews or through virtual reality social situations that can, in turn, teach social skills. There is also the capacity to make films using ‘green screen’ equipment and so much more. There is no set agenda - we want to let members decide the direction they would like to take the society.
