STUDENT COUNCIL POSITIONS
CHAIR OF STUDENT COUNCIL
The Chair of the Student Council is responsible for the ensuring that the Student Council runs effectively in meetings and throughout the year. The Chair must ensure that, where responsibility is delegated to committees and individuals in the interests of efficiency, appropriate reports are made back to Council on the progress of those responsibilities. The Chair is also responsible for holding the Paid Part-time Officers to account.

ANTI-RACISM & ANTI-FASCISM OFFICER
The Anti-Racism & Anti-Fascism Officer is responsible for representing students and ensuring that their voices are heard through any of the Union's anti-racism and antifascism campaigns.

The Employment Rights and Trade Union Liaison Officer is responsible for representing Birkbeck students and ensuring their voices are heard through any of the Union's work relating to employment rights and trade unions.

The Welfare and Community Officer is responsible for representing Birkbeck Students and ensuring that theire voices are heard through any of the Union's work relating to student welfare and community building.

The Environmental and Ethics Officer is responsible for representing Birkbeck Students and ensuring their voices are heard through any of the Union's work relating to the Environment and ethics at Birkbeck.

Birkbeck has a high percentage of mature students and as Mature Students Officer it is your responsibility to ensure that the voices of mature students are being heard throughout all of the Union's and College's work.

The Postgraduate Officer is responsible for representing the views and interests of the Postgraduate Students at Birkbeck, encouraging participation of Postgraduate Students in the Union and advancing the welfare of such students.

The Parent and Caring Responsibilities Officer is responsible for ensuring that the voices of parents and carers at Birkbeck are heard throught the year in all Union and College campaigns.

The Stratford Campus Officer is responsible for representing the views and interests of students who study at the Stratford Campus at Student Council. They will encourage enagement of Stratford Campus students in Union and College activities.

The International Students Officer is responsible for representing the views and interests of International Students studying at Birkbeck. They will encourage participation in Union events and help to organise activities for International students.

ACADEMIC REPRESENTATIVE
The Student Council includes Academic Representatives in its membership, there is one per department. As Academic Rep for your department, it is your responsibility to ensure that the views of students in your department are heard at Student Council.

There are lots of clubs and societies at Birkbeck and in your role as Clubs and Societies Officer you are responsible for representing the views of students in clubs and societies at Student Council.

NUS DELEGATE
The NUS delegates are responsible for representing the views of Birkbeck Students on a national level at NUS’ National Conference. NUS Delegates have voting rights, and will attend National Conference and vote on proposed motions that will shape NUS’ priorities throughout the following year. We have a total of 3 Delegate spaces available (with one space reserved for a woman delegate).
