Are you interested in shaping change at the university?
Nominations are now open for the Student Union Leadership Elections! This is your chance to step into a leadership role, make a real difference, and help shape the student experience at Birkbeck.
Roles Up for Election:
Paid Sabbatical Officer Roles (21 hours per week)*
These part-time, paid positions run from July 2026 to June 2027, allowing you to dedicate a year to representing students and driving meaningful change.
*Note for international students on visas: Hours can be adjusted to 20 hours per week to comply with visa regulations. Candidates must have the legal right to work the UK.
Society Committees and Student Networks
If you’re passionate about a particular society or network, you can also run for a leadership position. Please note these are voluntary positions, also running from July 2026 to June 2027.
You need to be a member of the Student Group if you want to run in the committee. If you are an affiliate member or you want to adopt a dormant student group, please email su-activities@bbk.ac.uk – we are eager to support you in kickstarting an existing student group.
As a committee member you will receive training in organising and administering events and activities for your members as well as mentorship and guidance from the Students’ Union Activities Team.
