Dear Students,
At the request of our Executive Committee, we would like to acknowledge the gap in postgraduate representation during this academic year.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the elected Postgraduate Sabbatical Officer has not been active in their role since October 2024. As a result, postgraduate students have unfortunately been without dedicated representation. Owing to policy constraints, we were unable to run a by-election to fill the vacancy. However, we have been working to deliver on the original manifesto commitments set out by the elected officer.
Although the role has remained vacant, other officers and I have taken on additional responsibilities to help bridge the gap. Furthermore, various departments within the Students’ Union have continued to engage with and respond to feedback from postgraduate students. This work included our recent Mental Health Awareness Week campaign, and our ongoing efforts to work closely with the university on policy changes.
We are committed to ensuring postgraduate voices are heard and acted upon. If you have any feedback or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to contact us here.
Kind regards,
William Sarenden
SU Chairman & Education Sabbatical Officer
